How to deal with an "idiot" boss
"It's an honored tradition — working for an "idiot" boss. They don't take suggestions, don't think efficiently and don't make your job easier. If you've seen the movie "Office Space," you know the drill."

It sounds as if the writer's objective is to help the idiot Boss rather than the employee.
I suggest the following solution:
Trap him/her to expose the real truth about what is going on. Senior Management will be more happy with you if you help them remove the bad apple.

I have found that when dealing with an idiot boss, it is better to document your steps in a project or even in dealing with this individual (how I love e-mail!). It may be a CYA way of doing things, but it sure is effective.

My boss fired and rehired me on the same day, treated me terrible for 2 months, had people follow me, gave me reprimand letters which were all lies , fired me again. One the reprimand letters said I didn't pick up the mail. He spread bad rumors about me, defamed my name and got away with it. I went to HR and they didn't help me.
JERK OF THE YEAR AWARD SHOULD GO TO HIM.

the movie office space hit it on the head... this guy has no schooling, but gives me the gears because I didn't finish my schooling - then comes to me for simple design work... i've been written up under false pretenses, CYA onl work if said boss follows logic - but his logic ssems to be what can i blame X for today?

My idiot boss is completely and utterly stupid. You can tell him the same thing 50 million times (dealing with a schedule) and he still screws the same thing up over and over and doesn't get why I get so angry at him and write him nasty letters. He always says "come and talk to me" but when you do, it's like hitting your head on a brick wall--the same stupid mistakes all over again. What is the point of wasting my breath!!! When he does confront me, he makes up information that can be obviously refuted because it's documented. Plus, and this is a good one, on my evaluation (before I become obnoxious) he lied about things that I had/hadn't done and then docked me for it and I confronted him about it and he never had anything to say about it. WHAT AN IDIOT!!!

my boss is still 'new' at her job after a year and a half. She has no clue what my job responsibilities are, thanks to her predecessor not leaving job descriptions for any of our team of 5. So I give her my job responsibilities, and what does she do? She does them! She does them instead of me, and one of them, she makes into a team effort with people from three other departments, none of which report to her. The team decides on something I selected and got quoted a year ago, only it's a few dollars cheaper. BFD. It's exactly the same hardware, from the same manufacturer. She isn't technical, and I have 25 years experience and training, but she knows better than I do on decisions like changing the server. What a frickin' idiot. The place will go down in flames, because she is threatened by me (I'm just a woman, after all), and won't listen to my concerns about the changes she's making. I no longer give a crap. If I did, I'd be nuts. Let it all go to hell. Her boss is in the same idiot clique. It's hopeless.

Here's another "idiot" boss story. Yesterday myself and a co-worker were threatened with displinary action for eating oatmeal!!!! He thought we were hanging around our shop, but in all actuality just finished up our timesheets, mileage, etc. He said that if he saw us eating oatmeal again, he was going to take "offical action". Had me quaking in my boots.

My boss is more than an idiot, she is crazy! She finishes all of her sentences and conversations with "ummm...". For the first few weeks I just stood there an extra 5 minutes thinking that there was more. She has tried to explain to me what alphabetical order is....uh yeah I learned that in third grade. She once told me that I should go home from work because she didn't want to catch my ear infection! WTF? I told her that there is no way for her to catch it, ear infections are not contagious, and all she had to say was, "yeah I had alot of them when I was little, I know about these things." I have been here for a year and she still outlines every little assignment for me as if I were in training. Then if there happens to be some little mistake she says "well I know about the learning curve." If she were not a total idiot she would realize that I am way up the learning curve and I don't need her explanations anymore. Its hopeless, she's insane!

Oh do I have an idiot boss story to top them all. Another coworker walks around for two weeks and ignores him only to get a big fat raise (cause she sucks up to him) but then I do the same thing and get put on probation. WTF!! To top it off he tells me I only get a half hour lunch but the same coworker gets an hour and works less than me. Please explain this one to me!

Just survival of the mentally fittest. I have an idiot boss too. He protects his pets who do very little, while the rest of us slave away. This has been going on for years. So who is the real idiot? Idiot bosses act this way because they can't handle confrontation of any kind (well my idiot can't anyway). Also, they have an acute fear of looking stupid and an aversion to all work. In a nutshell, they are lazy, fearful, selfish individuals who care nothing for those around them. What they are not however is stupid. Typically, their team consists of pets and the fall guys. The fall guys do all the work. If anything goes wrong the fall guys can be blamed and shuffled off. If they succeed, the idiot boss is waiting to take the credit. The pets are happy because they don't have to do work. The trick is to have more pets than fall guys. Then if higher ups ever ask questions, the pets are there to sing high praises. Whether you become a pet or fall guy depends on luck and threat-potential. You may be an excellent pet candidate but there just may be no opening! Sara

Date: 10/24/2005 5:53:00 AM
Sara,
You are so right. I have a boss just like that. She likes to baffle with b.s.,have this stupid little giggle for the higher ups, and will go out of her way to lie when the truth would sound much better. She never works with you, just always trying to prove other people wrong, then she is the one that ends up looking like a fool. She has no clue about agency programs, policy, and/or procedures. She thinks that if she says it, or tells you to do something, as an employee you should drop to your knees and offer thanks. She definitely has her pets and fall guys. I do my best to keep her out of my office and business, because it always ends up really messed up and then the big boss gets mad at me because ultimately I am responsible. I have never disrespected, or in general hated a boss, but she can make my temper flare in 5 sec. flat. Usually it is because she makes some of the most stupid suggestions in the world and expects me just to fall all over her. WRONG! She really, really needs to get a diffrent job. I have never seen anyone so educated and stupid at the same time.

thats why I work for a UNION! Everybody else should document their problems about how they get treated and take it up with the state labor board and file a grievance. Try it, and if you get fired for doing it, then you will have a lawsuit. These bastards need a lesson that they can not just go around treating people with such disrespect. After all, your making them their money for christ sake!

Listen to this one. Yesterday I was checking the office email and my boss (who knows absolutely nothing about computers - doesn't even use one)walked by. He then goes to his office and calls me on the main phone and asks me why I am still doing personal things when I have been at work for 20 minutes...I told him I wasn't and he said "yeah....Ok" really sarcastically. Then today I come in and he had asked the office manager to have a talk with me about using the computer for personal things. If only he could understand that I was just checking the office email.....just doing my job.

Wow, I am so burnt out by it all. Why is it that given an opportunity people will regress and recreate high school scenarios for themselves to live out? And you get the bullies, gossips and prima donnas all over again. If we put as much effort into teaching kids to be emotionally intelligent as we do in teaching them to add and subtract numbers, our work environments would be saner. "Sara"

Sara, educating our children to be more intelligent(emotionally) and think rationally, is the best gift to give to humanity. Well said, this is it, the root of all. Just thinking about a friendly working environment, makes me feel good. One of the best thing to have in life is fun and work at the same time.

It's official. My boss IS stupid. We have a deadline that has passed us and what does she do? She's worried about who should bring what to next week's department's pot luck. She even called a department meeting on that. TWICE! The other day I was explaining the work-in-progress when she suddenly looked blank. Then she blurted, " maybe we shouldn't do pot luck and call the caterer instead". What the f**k!? When our department clerk didn't do his job, she cries. When we have a meeting with our agency, all she does is nod, though we all know she doesn't get any of it. The only thing she'll say is towards the end of the meeting," Please help yourselves with some refreshments". Oooo..I can go on and on about her stupidity but I have to get back to work. (the work that she's supposed to be doing). My boss is a pathetic loser.

My boss got his job because he's buddies with higher management. Wish he also had a brain, though. The other day one girl had made a mistake calculating some figures together, and when I pointed this out to the boss he coudn't figure out if the orginal numbers or totals were wrong! Suppose it never occured to him that totals are supposed to come from the original numbers and not the other way around... Any third grader could do a better job than this dimwit.

This is all about cliques, you're right. I have two idiot bosses, which is double the stupidity -- a VP and Director with NO experience in this field, nor any passion or enthusiasm. Every day is a trying experience. I love my job, but my management is terrible. I don't know how to get through it. I think of creative ways of promoting ourselves within the company, but I get no response, and in fact, negativity, because they want to stay under the radar. They don't want to be accountable for anything -- because they literally do nothing! However, they do achieve in stepping on my toes, making mountains out of mole hills and causing confusion externally and internally. Problem is, the VP is in the clique of senior management, and so he stays. And whomever he wants stays too -- thus, the other idiot. Idiots are not threatened by other idiots -- so they are the perfect pair. I'm frustrated daily and don't know what to do!!!

I know an idiot at work thinks he's the boss, when he is a glorified paperpusher/ office assistant. I mean, his main responsibilities are office supplies and MINOR computer problems (all of the real computer stuff is contracted out - he's responsible for making the phone call----oooooh, don't hurt yourself!). GIMMIE A BREAK!- Me and a co-worker call the boss and his assistant Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum because of how they act. I can't see where my boss's rear end ends and this jerks head begins. Tweedle dum eats lunch with the boss every day, follows him around like a lost puppy, they get nothing done, and push everything on their low paid office girl that is overworked, underpaid, and HATES the assistant with a passion! She is constantly talking about how she does all the work and he gets all of the recognition and perks, and she is right!
User: Karra
Date: 12/22/2005 10:21:00 PM
Been there, again and again. I feel for you! As a consultant/contractor in the IT field I periodically run into these dumbell guys who come to me for help because they can't do their own work and then act as if I'm their assistant. It's hilarious.
The reality is these guys do get promoted for the butt kissing. Insecure managers love them. They feel superior next to them. Sometimes we women overcompensate and act too smart. That scares the hell out of male bosses, however not enough to keep them from letting us do all the work. Not good. Not so smart after all.
Unfortunately, some guys only take guys seriously (for you guys out there reading this, sorry for the sexism and I'm sure you're the exception!). There is probably not much you can do to change your boss. It sounds as if he sees this guy as a pal. My advice is play dumb with Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum.

I used to have an idiot boss. After a year of putting up with his BS. I quit. He only got this job because he is a brother in law to the main boss. He created his own system of incidents, anything not scheduled with in a 2 week notice was an incident. That includes doctor appointments, funerals, sick children, flat tires, if you had a flat tire on the way to work that made you late you got an incident. 12 incidents in a year and you were fired, regardless if you were a good employee or not. each year you never start out with a clean slate these incidents carry over into the next year. the only way to remove an incident is to make sure you don't miss any work the same month you got the incident the year before. it would take forever to get these incidents down. i had to see a specialists for my allergies and gave him a 10 day notice, I still got an incident because it was not exactly 2 weeks notice. That really bugged me. He had such highs and lows, one minute he could be happy the next minute he was sad. you could never win.

My manager is so up and down. I work as a cusomer service consultant. If there was ever a problem with our documentation, he would come up to you and very snotty say "What is this?" He could never talk respectfully to you. He had to talk down to you like you are stupid. He also had his favorites. they could get away with everyhting. Once I had a coworker that went back to school, she had her schedule changed to work part time. Around the same time I needed to have a temporary schedule change to find a new day care for my child because the other daycare provider had a crisis in the family and could no longer care for my child. I had it worked out so my family could take care of my child until i found a day care. I had 2 days that i needed my 8 hour day changed to a 4 hour day, when i asked him he was not willingly to help me out in my situation, he left me hanging, and would not give me an answer right away. I had to keep asking him, i was stressing out because I didn't know you was hgoing to care for my child i did not have a sitter for the whole day of these 2 days i needed my hours cut back. than he tells me he is going to cut every day i work to 4 hours, I told him I can't work part time I live 45 minutes from work, with gas prices and everthing I told him it would not even be worth it for me to work here. He said "Well than that gives you something to think about than" Back to my other coworker going to school she was getting stressed out going to school and working part time, she wanted to quit her job. my desk is right by my managers desk i overheard him telling her in a very sweet voice If she wants to quit she can and when she wants to come back he will hire her back again. she was one of his favorites. I thought it was unfair the treatment she recieved and the treatment I recieved.

My boss is vindictive, lazy, and a moron. She will only lift a finger when management comes. So basically I've seen her help out 3 times this year. She gave a file to my co-worker to file away when the filing cabinet is right outside her door. Then she called my co-worker to pull out a file. She let's the lazy new co-worker do nothing, babies her while we're short on staff, and won't let my other co-worker help out because she's leaving at the end of the week. Instead she has her cover our front desk because our other co-worker was an idiot and got fired. She has no clue about computers and asks me if she can continue to burn and re-burn on a disc because she's soo cheap. Yeah, if you have the right disc. My boss also is probably anorexic or bulemic and uses us to control because she can't control anything else in her life. Please help me get out a.s.ap.
User: Karra

Your boss isn't doing the lazy new co-worker any favors by letting her do nothing. Being overworked sucks but is much better than being turned into a lazy useless person who will one day find themselves fired for being unable to do their job. This happened to a guy I worked with years ago. He took naps every afternoon and was useless, so no one gave him work. One day he quit and moved across the country for a better paying job. Almost immediately he got fired. He hadn't done any work in years and knew nothing.
Look at the work as a blessing, learn eveything you can, and job hunt, job hunt, job hunt!

In response to anonymous's 12/15 post -- YES!!!! Same here...the director and vp are both exactly as you write.. They also want to stay under the radar because they are afraid they are going to get laid off like hundreds of others have been (with no notice, even after 27 years of service to this poorly managed company). It's a good thing you love your job...I used to love mine too, until I realized the company was all too thrilled to allow me to work myself ragged and then suffer extreme ill-health (which they refused to pay for, even though they lured me in with this supposed great benefits package)...all lies...they are all liars...bottom line is all they care about...employees they don't care about at all, even though their rhetoric is otherwise...Good luck in your uphill battle...maybe the director and vp will eventually get laid off because their salaries are too high...wouldn't that be a nice payback...I think so.

THIS IS THE BIBLE OF IDIOT BOSSES
1 when mistakes have been made =others will be blamed
2 when there is a problem=its your fault
3 when something good happens = it was the idiot bosses idea
4 if we all work harder there will be bonuses and raises at year end = unfortunatly we didnt meet sales expectations or some other lame ass excuse to deprive those who work hardest for what they deserve
5 when cornering the weasel teflon idiot boss he always develops some crisis to diverte attenion from the truth he is the ultimate spin doctor
6 he will also pit one employee up agianst another to divert attention and stirr the pot so to speak
7 to spite employees he will hire someone new to do a meanigless job and pay him whatever this person desires and then declare to everyone he will be training him to do his job
8 the idiot boss will often idiolize and worship the ground his brown nosers walk on yet belittle and mind screw those who work hardest
9 the only way to beat him is to stoop to his level and do what he does to you a skill that will come with many years of mental abuse however once you reach that piont you can make serious ground in a short period of time hehehe and hopefully he wont keal over and have a heart attack because you want the suffering to last haha hehe
10 he should have been a egyptian pharoa or a slave master these people are well before there time
most of all relax dont work so hard plan and plot it will all be worth it in the end hhehhehehahahah

Regarding "Bible of Idiot Bosses" (I've had 3 in 6 years). That must be the training manual they brought with them when they were hired. Right on, especially #4, 6, 8 & hoping for 9 & 10. In reality, prepare your resume. With that corporate laugh & sucking up, you can't win.

I have several idiot bosses. All of the managers and directors who have real visionary power are men and all of the managers who just "keep things together" are women. In my department, we just had the laziest, most unproductive memeber of our team (4 women, 1 man) get promoted--the only man of the group! In a similar department, the female director is totally ignored and the good ole boys in the upper ranks call her assistant for lunch and decision-making meetings. He was actually hired--in his supervisor's own words--so that there was someone he could trust in that dept. Did I mention that the other workers there are all female? Unbelievable sexism!

I have been working at this company for over two years while going to college. I only work two days a week because my schedule at school doesn't allow otherwise. I have been through four manager changes in the two years...the third manager was the best, but this new one is a total idiot. She came in the with guns blazing tellings us that our laziness was not going to persist any longer. We had top sales in the region..she does not know anything about us or our work ethics. She started cutting hours and giving write ups about nonsense immediately. Our sales have drop drasically since she has took over as manager. Her excuse, that we are the reason she is loosing business. Whatever! We were doing just fine before she came and now she is there, sales suck. Huh, wonder why? What an idiot! I do her job on the weekends so that she can have a day off (I have done that for all my bosses before her in the two year I have work there; I know my job like the back of my hand) but now I have heard that she said that she is going to start working with me because I am killing her business. My work was never under question with my other managers, but now it is with her. She is psycho..really she is. I am glad I am only there two days out of the week because I would loose my mind if I had to work any longer.

My boss deserves IDIOT of the year award. She is one of those lying types, who always waits to the last minute to ask for things and will Lie and tell you she told you before. The truth is she doesn't know a thing, she smells like fish and she makes me sick. She lies and manipulates her self out of things. Take for instance today, she just told me that she needs a hotel room for someplace she needs to stay umm 2 days from now. Needless to say the hotels are booked in that area, but she claims she told me this sometime early last week. She is a fishy smelling liar. Had she told me I would have reserved a room for her.

So my boss asked me how to spell acorn, then told a techie worker who only works out of this office that he needs help with his writing and should take a writing course. This is after I completely rewrote a major report for her b/c (a) junior high students have a better grasp of how to write and (b)she said we were inexperienced employees with no life skills (i have two uni. degrees..the lady i work with is a mother of two and co-owns a family business...meanwhile boss-lady just moved out of her parents' house and she's over 40). She didn't notice the change, nor did she thank me for "proofreading" it.
Rhetorical conversations are very common and make me mourn the loss of the time I spent in the conversation b/c I'll never ever get that time back.
She uses phrases like, "oh you're still here!" when I have over 2 hours left of work, although I did leave early one time after she said that (*blush*).
I can honestly say she's not mean-spirited though, which I guess is the one bright side. Some of her screws are simply loose and/or gone completely!

As much as I would like to see things 'Made in the USA', I can't blame companies for going overseas for manufacturing. I can't blame huge car manufactures for laying off thousands of people, but unfortunately, the people that are laid off are probably the non-idiots and the idiots are still with a job, doing not much of anything. There are too many bosses that 'know everything' that run big/huge companies when they actually have 'no idea' of what they're doing (trust me, I know, I'm working for one now). Everyone here in the USA needs a job and is trying to do the best they can, I wish our bosses would respect this and work with us, instead of make our lives miserable. Soon, we'll be depending on other countries for everything. It's like that cell phone commercial where I can't remember the exact wording, but we're sticking it to ourselves because we have to work with a bunch of IDIOTS! Then there won't be jobs for ANYONE!

Ok, my boss is not only an idiot, but incompetent. My training as a buyer consisted of two sheets of legal paper and one week of "heres how you do it just go do it and don't ask questions." Keep in mind I am brand new to being a purchasing agent, but have an in depth knowledge of managment and employee training practices. I know how to thorougly train someone. This was almost an insult at trainers across the globe. In 8 months, he has managed to belittle me, yell at me, curse me, and throw idle threats of job loss at me some of which were in front of other employees. His favorite threat is "we could get a monkey in here to do your job for you." The sad truth is that our HR manager supports the senior management and it would be my word against his. As a new employee, I would lose. What I've learned is that you can have an incompetent and idiodical boss, but some of them are pretty good at covering their own backside. Seems he's had HR trouble with his previous employer.

My boss is not only an idiot but an anorexic one to boot. She has to control everyone in her department somehow, or she goes crazy. She controls me by telling me i am anorexic as she knows it bothers me and i am not but since she is and because i am thin and a workout junkie and don't have to starve myself to be thin she hates me, so she turns to everyone and tells them i am anorexic. She even has my good friend believing her. Since she has an eating disorder she is obsessive compulsive, she hates dirt. She has to clean clean clean or make her department do it for her. She is also a very hot person, our department freezes to death in the winter and roast in the summer as she is crazy and always thinks its hot. When she is confronted about things she lies to get herself out of it or blames it on someone else and then when she gets caught and she knows she got caught she freaks out and won't speak to you.I have never had such a freaked out boss before that i've hated but her on the other hand makes me so so so mad yet i love her to death. She can be so much fun and if you need to talk she is there for you, a little more than you wanted bet better more than not i guess.

My boss can't figure out how to go to Human Resources and see who is always late and often absent - and not schedule them to work and schedule those who are on time and not ever absent. My boss can't open their eyes and see who does the work and who stands around talking or on the cell phone or in the break room and promote those who work not those who don't work. My boss listens to gossip rather than opens his eyes and sees what is really going on. I am definitely looking for a different job.

i am a boss and an employee so i do see both sides of it. A good boss develops employees and lets them fly - but also is held accountable by those above them. So, a boss is going to be sure that the person who is working for them is thorough and consistently solid in their work. A good boss listens to employees but also really knows the workplace and people/personalities so that reality sinks in. A bad boss keeps changing their mind, undermines good work, and doesn't support. God help me to be a good boss. It is hard when some employees do not want to do their given job - but are from the get go looking out politically and for more than their job from day one(which was what they are hired for - to fill an immediate need).

my is the worst kind of boss, he just does not get it. we have 5 people who have been at their jobs a long time, but he decides to go with the new people and what they say. everytime we go into explain to him about a procedure or something that is not right, he says ok and them just does whatever these other people tell him. now we have of of these people who thinks she running the school and everything she says gos even its not according to policy and if it no right. we can't seem to get through to him. he has not guts to say no, no guts to say yes, he just doesn't do anything, but he does like to hear himself talk without saying anything really substantial. we have no recourse because he is the boss and we are stuck, it is really sad that most of the people there think he is an idiot and want to leave, but we actually like what we do and leave many kids in the hole if we left.

I had a director who, for almost two years, did nothing but play online-Hearts - ALL DAY LONG!
He was never reprimanded, even though it was the "official" office joke ("How is Joe's game today? *snicker*". When he finally left (permanent medical), the next-in-line manager filled his shoes perfectly - download music, browse the web, and steal computer equipment for friends and family.
I no longer work there. I have never been happier than the day I walked out.

I just got a new boss and I am fed up. I end up doing most of her job because she does not know how to do it herself. She also treats me like I am her slave i.e., cleaning the office and getting her coffee even though that was never my job as part of the office staff. She just got out of school and is 10 years younger than me! Guess a college diploma means you can be ignorant and still boss people around. I think I have to quit.

My boss is so very arrogant that she, personally, has nearly ruined the organization. She is a coward and a bully, and never recognizes those who really have brought success to the operation. I hope she is not typical, because if she is, there are a lot of sad, beat-up people who have lost heart for their organizations just because of someone who is entirely incompetent to lead but entirely too arrogant to admit it.

My boss, the HR manager takes the cake for idiot bosses. He sends out a memo on personnel changes on a Sunday (to make it look like he is so committed) which contains the wrong dates, spelling and grammar mistakes, and incorrect phrasing about why people are moving to a new position. His boss once asked my co-worker and I to document things like when he comes and goes (the man never works 40 hours) and all the other idiotic things he does. We did, and he is still here. The jerk makes over $80K a year, has a wife who doesn't work, and still has to leave early to pick up one of his kids at school. WTF?? The man is the poster child for the horse's butt who gets paid to be a moron. I wish I knew how to get rid of him because he really is a waste of human existance.

My assistant boss is a moron. He tries to make out he's good at his job but me and another colleague pick up so many of his mistakes it's laughable. His friend applied for a job at our place of work but he didn't want his friend to work here, so he had a word with the MD and his friend din't get it. It's that type of behaviour that's he's famed for. Another collegue that sits near him claims that he's constantly running the rest of us down to the manager of the section-claming to her that he's 'carrying' us when in reailty he spends a large portion of the day on e-mail. Every second sentance is insulting to someone-be that a supplier that's rang up or a branch that he's talked to or collegues. He smells some days and never looks well groomed. This is something that can be fixed with a bar of soap. He is the most unplesant person I've ever encountered. Our department loses the most staff-the most recent being a young girl who was only there for two months-and he caused the entire department to fight which resulted in our manager being forced to make us all talk to her individually to sort the problem. Oh and he can't help being ugly I suppose but he could do something about his fat ass.

Security shows up Friday morning and I have 3 hours to get out of the building. I moved 1,000 miles for this job and then I have to get out in 3 hours. Now I've been unemployed for 2 years. It's easier to get a new job while you have one, so quit that job before they make you leave.

The more I think about it, and what happened at work Friday, the more
angry I get.
When I was trying to reach a customer who had three contact numbers, I kept coming up empty. My employer promotes skip tracing where we "try to find" the customer using other methods to let them know they could go to a collection agency.
I couldn't leave messages at his work number because he
wasn't there and his second work number had no answer
most of the time. His home number was a pick up and hang up or it
would ring and go dead sometimes. My supervisor told me (and I have the
physical proof) to not skip trace LAWYERS or DOCTORS only. She didn't
say we shouldn't or wouldn't skip trace police officers.
I did our skip tracing tool, looked up the contract, and then called possible
relatives. That's all I did for that customer. I hadn't called
neighbors, because his deadline wasn't until Saturday, June 24th.
We were not supposed to call CALL HISTORY for partial skips, that is
true. I knew that. What happened as far as I can remember was that I
was looking AT the call detail to find out which cities in PA he was
calling so I could look for relatives. Why would I do this? Because
most skip tracers always check that, and because the last name
had over eighty listings on WhitePages.com. I was trying to
find where he was calling so I could look for more relatives.
The number I called on accident was "2117" but the customer's
RELATIVE I meant to call was "2118".... both having the same area codes.
User: anonymous
Date: 6/18/2006 11:28:00 PM
I had written the 2117 number down on a piece of paper to try to see
if it's his family's number, etc., and I must've called it after
calling his 2 work numbers, 1 home phone number, and I must've been
looking at it thinking it was the relative - at 2118.
I put the 2118 number in the memos after I realized that the guy I
talked to wasn't at the work number I had listed (if you look in memos
I almost removed his work number because I thought that was the number
I had just called, but I realized it wasn't the work number because I
had called there earlier and they said he wasn't in which means DIDN'T
LEAVE A MESSAGE).
I had both written down and that's what I thought I called, hence why
I was confused when a guy answered and said he lived there, and then
no he doesn't live there it's a cell phone? I was very confused with
that call but figured it was fine because it was a relative listed in
the phone book directory I use.

My supervisor told me on Friday, "You took the most frequently called number
in the call history and called it and here's the proof. The Manager doesn't
want you calling call history any more. I don't know what disciplinary
action will be taken because this woman wants to sue us. We might have
to waive the termination fees and the balance they owe. And now another supervisor has to call her and tell her that we did use call history after
all and apologize."
My supervisor also took me aside at her desk (a cubicle) in front of other coworkers to talk to me, not in private - so others COULD over hear. Considering the circumstances she also didn't ask me what happened, she told me what happened and didn't give me a chance to even offer an explination.
What should I do?

My new boss is a complete fool. He ignored me for the first 4 mths and the day I returned from 6 sick days he called me in and told me he was reassigning me to an area where I had no experience and out of where I had specialized for 20 years. He is going to move me to a lower salary grid and since the move in Jan our conversations have generally been good morning. Not once has he asked how I'm doing or provided any feedback as to what he thinks of my work. Some may suggest going to HR but he is the Director and has his nose so far up his bosses butt that you can't see his face. One of my coworkers went to his boss and was told it's a personality conflict and if can't be resolved she'll have to quit. In discussing how one aboriginal employee was beating on his girlfriend Mr. sensitivity stated "that's a cultural thing." Right now I'm just marking time and waiting for a better opportunity. I used to love it here but now I spend 10 minutes across the street trying to gather the courage to go in.

OK - I think my would be the KING of Idiots (if he could hold a supervisory position). He called me into his office the other day for adding a {clean} fighter pilot joke to an email...which I have been known for for over 8 years in the organization. (He's never been a pilot by the way). He gave me a Letter of Repremand for it. THEN, not 30 minutes after handing me the letter, he came into my workspace and told a sexually offensive joke demeaning to women. What's up with that?

My Boss is the laziest most disorganized, paranoid, self-involved idiot that I've ever met. He talks on the phone to his girlfriend for at least an hour every day. Leaves the premises to attend to his other job, has his disfunctional family members dropping in for the crisis du jour, misplaces every paper and file that I give him and, of course, blames everything on me when his job doesn't get done. He's tried to bully me into never telling anyone about him by writing me up for things like rolling my eyes at him, forwarding a phone message to him without walking into his office to tell him first, using improper communication (email - he understandbily doesn't like anything put in writing) and other nonsensical things. Human resources let him get away with it, so they obviously aren't going to be any help. I documented everything but then he wrote me up for taking the time to document his outrageous behavior. I was told that I must do that at home on my own time. So why do I still work there? In this economy I'm just happy to have good pay and benefits. I need to believe that this Jack*** will eventually get what's coming to him and I hope I'm around to see it.

I'm pretty much in the same boat with you guys. I'm fed up with my new boss. I had 2 managers before and they were great. This new boss is absolutely an IDIOT. The good thing is that I don't just sit back and let him do whatever he wants. I would talk back at him and tell him stuff that would make him look stupid. I know that he needs me and I don't need him because nobody in our company have the knowledge and capability to do what i'm doing. If you're good at what you do than you don't need to put up with anyone. I'm looking for a new job. I don't know how people like this get away with it. I think upper management should open their eyes and see what's going in their company.

Glad I'm not alone. I'm a professional and I'd thought I'd seen everything. My boss is an idiot: he's still "new" after 2 years on the job; he is basically taking orders from a manic-depressive clerical woman who sabotage's other people's work and who's been in the same job without promotions for 15 years. Every manager tried to get her out before him, with no success--she apparently a member of several "protected" groups. My boss seems to love people to kiss his ass, ignoring the accomplishments of the real producers in the office. He pits people againt each other and then wonders why the office teamwork sucks. I've been extremely solid in my job, and at first he liked it, but when other long-timers were threatened, he's tried to minimize my accomplishments and find extremely petty issues with me. He told me that I seem to be in my own little world. Well, given that his "world" is filled with back-biting brown nosers, maybe I don't fit in. To top it off, he's a member of a minority, and there are few minorities in this field. I don't look at race at all--both men, women, miniorities and non-minorities can be losers and vice-versa. But, apparently manament thinks it's a delicate situation and are walking on eggshells. This branch used to be the top in the nation for production. He's running the office into the ground. I'm trying to outlast him and keep my head down, but he's making it almost impossible just to be an excellent employee who does a great job and doesn't try to get into other people's business. I'm not alone--but no one seems to know what to do. They hide in their offices and hope it will blow over...

I have a theory - those who are unintelligent and easily manipulated reach the assistant management position. I base this on my previous experiences and my current experience (I work in a retail store for one of the 4 major wireless carriers) our assistant manager is extremely unintelligent and can't handle her job, and isn't fit, however she'll parrot whatever the higherups tell her. Its a shame that the company doesn't want innovation or motivation at all levels.

Most people are idiots. Therefore, the odds of working for an idiot are quite high. Of course, you are probably an idiot too.
I personally have had 7 decent bosses and 12 idiots. Roughly a 2-to-1 idiot-to-good boss ratio.
Even if I were to start my own business, the odds are 2-to-1 that I am an idiot and doomed to failure. And of course my business would have idiots for customers, so even if I am smart, I would still have to deal with idiots in 2 out of 3 relationships.
For any given relationship of two people, each of the two has a 2-to-1 chance of being an idiot. So, for the 18 possible relationships between the two, 2 of the relationships are smart person-to-smart person. 16 of them are smart person-to-idiot or idiot-to-idiot. How does our society continue to function?

Work for a company whose HR Manager is an obliterate idiot. He foregoes all our laws: plays dumb when dealing or hiring illegal aliens. He sometimes shows up to work with alcohol smell in his breath (chews gum or smokes to disguise it). Lies to the company owners like crazy; when in trouble, he's good at covering his ass. He's good at playing the idiot. He's copied all our present work rules from one of his former employers and he's looking good and owners swallow it. His assistants can't stand him; he's always breathing down their necks and has sexually harrassed a couple of them. He's good at doctoring disciplinary action forms. Our company has lost good employees without good cause. But, when it comes to dealing with other minority groups, he's good at looking the other way when work rules are violated. He's also all ears when others are talking and he's not invited; to the point that we shut our doors when we have to talk among ourselves, otherwise, he'll invite himself into our conversations. We can't stand his ass and can't wait until he quits or retires.

I have had six bosses, 3 of them had a clue and the other three fall into the lazy clueless category, Yes, lazy and clueless.
The boss I work for now is very hands off, but on occasion she likes to appear to everyone how in touch she is and caring. The staff and our customers all see thru her.
She spends money on things that are down right stupid and the staff has told her are not needed or have given a more conservative and efficient option. Then harps on how we need to stay in budget.
Actually in a very small way I feel sorry for her, she really has no malice intended, she is just incredibly DUMB.She is just really clueless and all the people in our building know it - I just can't believe corporate is so stupid. Oh ya, put stupid people under you and then you feel smart and on top of things.

My boss should not hold the position that he has. He has no retail experience whatsoever and he oftens hides or sends me out to deal with difficult people and situations he either doesn't want to or can't handle. I have campaigned for the position for 3 years and no one has applauded or recognized my accomplishments because he is taking all the credit. Sometimes I feel sorry for him because he doesn't know what he is doing most of the time. When he or one of our associates has a problem, they call me at home on my day off. It's like he gets paid for being the manager, but I get to do all the work.

I have an idiot boss, she is very conniving and manipulative. She has her pets naturally. They (well she) are allowed to come in a half an hour late, take two 30 minute breaks, and an hour and a half for lunch. This is all in an 8 hour day. We are already short handed at work and they are changing some our procedures which makes it that much more stressful. Then instead of telling me personally when something is wrong, she holds a staff meeting and looks me right in the eye when she says what whe wants to say. She is extremely sneaky and tries to do things anonymously within the company as if the ones of us that she is doing it to wouldn't find out. She has her job because she has been there for years and she does this because she runs straight to the big wigs everytime the wind blows. Everything she does is shady and conniving and she either likes you or she doesn't and look out if she doesn't. I can't wait to find another job, but for now I am biting my otngue while I find something.

Idiot boss' are plagues upon society. They are barnacles on the bottom of ships. My boss is not necessary an idiot boss so much as the head of my department is. I don't understand why underpaid and educated employee's who in my opinion can run circles around their superiors aren't in the higher ranks of the department. I work for a health care institution in Philadelphia where attendings are too busy playing golf and residents are too busy taking it all on that the patients turn into angry near-zombie like mutants who are at my throat and not at the doctor responsible.

I have been constantly verbally harassed by my unit coordinator. The latest time she told me she was going to kick my ass. I am a union member and filed a grievance to no avail. My boss told me I was lucky that I had not had a grievance filed against me?!?! I am not the only victim here. It has happened to others and yet this woman still gets away with it.
The time has come to draw the line.
Tomorrow I go in with the knowledge that I will not take this abuse.
IT IS ON.

My stupid boss is the laziest person I have ever met. The idiot even skives off while everyone else is working to update his website on...wait for it...how to be lazy!! We work in a busy magazine art department, and the other day while everyone was working hard to meet a deadline, he spent the WHOLE DAY working on a new screensaver for his computer!! Needless to say he is the most unpopular person I have ever met, and loathed by everyone in the entire magazine. I could go on for hours...but I would probably be reported to HR for slacking...and not for the first time either. Idiot!

According to me stupid and defficult people should be addressed as a challange. This is because, people have different concept, different thoughts, ways of dealing and conveying messages. Therefore it is important to understand that even when we know the words, we may not understand, we should learn to speak the language that will achive our goals. When dealing with a stupid boss, and if you see he/she rejects your ideas, it is better to ask them the reasons, rest assured they don't have reasons.

The company, oh excuse me, the college I work for is a joke. My boss goes with the status quo. Everthing objected to is answer with that's the Way and that's what Dr. wants. I work for a for profit school so they are pretty much a degree mill. They have no standards and the educational level is a joke. They treat their employees worse. They have over 15 campuses and the one I work at moved to a new shopping plaza. They expected employees to dumpster dive for boxes or buy them. They used us as day labor and required us to come in on our day off for the move and since we are on salary we didn't get paid for it. They are so cheap; they wouldn't buy boxes for their own move. Come on! They keep on adding additional duties to my job. They do not even talk to be about it. It gets emailed to several other people and along the way someone is nice enough to forward it to me. Every time I object, it does nothing. The middle management sucks as well. They do little and seem useless. Worst of all, they seem to have the school spirit and swear up and down to good it does to give a moron with an IQ of 80 a college degree for very little work who leaves college without being able to write or read on college level. Oh, but it's a career focused college! Um, no...your a degree mill that requires it's students to make attendence.

Is it ok to up and give notice if the Super Boss yells at you while saying the "F" word for no reason. Slamming, and getting so made he asks you to leave for that day. While trying to explain, they constantly interrupt and pose new lines of questioning. He's always right, you never are. Although you were this time! I left, never to return. The stress has left the body and I feel great. I think that place was killing me little by little each day! what's your opinion if this had happened to you?

I'm still trying to figure out a way to expose my idiot boss to our owner. I figure my best bet is the "Red Dragon" approach. When Lecter asked Graham (excuse the paraphrasing) if he knew how he caught him and Graham said, "You're insane." I gotta let it get good to my boss and feel confident in the fact that his insanity will eventually be his undoing. That does very little for me day-to-day, but I do believe in karma. I've had a few thrills with clients exposing him to our owner. Nothing like independent verification! I also believe that people know when they're doing wrong, even if it doens't appear they do. It twists them in some way. My boss is such a collection of ticks and affectations, I can't believe he's allowed in a professional setting. It's all I can do to keep my composure when he's trying to explain something to someone and he's in full-effect. People listening to him have a reaction that's usually reserved for someone who's belched really loud. Then they can't believe he's really the boss. Neither can I.

I have a boss who acts like a high-school student. he often makes the small-penis jokes and always at my expense. I've been short with him in the past (not a pun) and he really has it out to get me, but I've never crossed that line before. The way i see it i have 3 options. 1: dish the jokes right back out at him (i'm sure this will just escalate the situation) 2: be blunt and simply tell him it's sexual harassment and his humor isn't appreciated or 3: tape him making these comments and bring it to HR.
Any suggestions?

My boss is truly an idiot. He once wrote a letter of reprimand about me after I exposed a major safety hazard which was caused directly by his incompetence. I was Safety Officer at the time and felt he was directly endangering personel who used very heavy industrial equipment. Two of the employees had nearly been crushed to death in the most horrifying manner. He tried to cover it up and hide the problem from his boss.
He then had a written reprimand regarding my uniform appearance sent to his boss. When he called me into the office, I didn't know a thing about it, but nearly choked when I read the letter of reprimand. It indicated that my pants were not the required color of the standard uniform and that I was being "defiant" in this manner - It was clearly a pathetic attempt at retalliation but the ironic part of it was that nearly every other word in the letter was mispelled and the punctuation was just too embarassing to read. It was clear that the man has an IQ not much greater than cro-magnon man, and should have been held back indefinately at the third grade level. Herein, I began to see that this was the source of his insecurity.
I was appalled by his idiocy, but did not say anything about the letter until his boss arrived. It was pretty uncomfortable waiting in the room with him. When the head boss read the letter, he raised his eyebrows, and my boss demanded that I sign it in front of him. I too raised my eyebrows and said I would not sign it, but that I would like a copy of it. The head boss said I could not have a copy. I then resigned as Safety Manager. The next day a copy of the letter was in my box with a demand that it be signed within 24 hours... Funny thing is...they cleaned up all the grammatical errors first. My boss now is an idiot, a creep and a dangerous person to work for.

I was recently fired from a lawfirm by a manipulative attorney I worked for (as a secretary). I learned a year ago when HR assigned him to my desk that he was LONGTIME BEST FAMILY FRIENDS with a prevous female attorney boss from my former lawfirm. I thought my time at this second lawfirm might be cut short because of their clique and the smallness of their minds (regardless of their degrees).
That female attorney from my former lawfirm had sent an interoffice email around to other attorneys and paralegals in that small lawfirm making fun of me for being a Christian. They learned that I found out about and had a copy. Her firm then trumped up something to fire me for.
I put 2 & 2 together after being wrongly fired from the second lawfirm recently: her family friend unfairly fired me too as a favor to her.
Well, I was just poking around on the Net last night, and discovered a local news story: the first attorney WAS INVOLVED IN A BAD CAR ACCIDENT ABOUT 19 DAYS AFTER I WAS RECENTLY WRONGLY FIRED FROM HER ATTORNEY-BUDDY'S LAWFIRM. Apparently, she and a passenger in her SUV hit a VERY LARGE ELK and TOTALED HER SUV. Neither of them died, but they were pretty shaken up. He's probably wondering what will happen to HIM FOR HIS ROLE EVENTUALLY.
SHE OPENED THE DOOR TO SATAN ACTING IN HER LIFE BY PURPOSEFULLY PERSECUTING A CHRISTIAN BECAUSE THEY ARE A CHRISTIAN. It isn't God's punishment; it's her own mistreatment of a professing Christian FOR their Christianity that left her unprotected from satan.
Conversely, when bad things happen to Christians, particularly at the hand of non-Christians who are persecuting them, God turns it into GOOD.

my boss is a terrible communicator. He consistently misuses and mispronounces words, such as "robusk" for "robust"; "in lieu" when he means "in light of." You can send him an email with 3 questions requiring more than a yes or no answer, and he will write back "yes." Did he read the email, or just the first line?

The man is immature and walks around chewing tobacco and telling dirty jokes like we could really care. The best is when he is never wrong and I told him because of my religion, I couldn't work all night on saturday and he cut me off saying yeah yeah i know Church so I would shut up and listen to his plan. He is only Store manager because he knew the owners since he was a teen.

I worked for a company in Iraq that handled linguists. We had a Project Director that had no operational ability but had lots of HR ability but used that ability to mess with people that were not favorites. When you are in contracting you CAN NOT argue with the client. This person had not operational ability and did just that. They had a game called Target of the Week. It was their belief that someone needed to go each week. So if you did not support the game you were soon to become the target. I becaue the target and lasted three months before I was pushed off the contract. They have now lost the contract and they are wondering why???? All I am saying that if you give the customer what they want, then they would have continued with the contract. I hope that I do not have to work with another person like him. I did learn lots that will serve me in the future. Good Luck

However, she thinks I am amazing and brags to everyone about me because I get work done and don't insult her. She doesn't do annual employee reviews and performs the worst interviews ever (I should have picked up on it during my interview). Ok, this person isnt the boss..but they are a team lead (or were at least hired to do that job) This team lead doesnt even know how to properly do the job. She worked in this department for a while, hated it, left it, and came back after years of unfamiliarity? This is how she trains: She gave up on her first trainee because she couldnt handle the fact that the person couldnt get it. Another team lead had to take over. The second trainee was a brainiac so they pretty much looked at a book and knew how to do it themselves without much instruction. She got out of that one. The third trainee she gave a cheat sheet to and we saw that on one page of information alone was over 8 errors. This is the information that she is training our new employees to give out to the customer. Whenever she is asked a question, you always see her go to another regular employee and get the answer and then walk back over to the one who asked the question to answer it...finally. She cannot handle an escalated call (and she should handle escalated calls or supervisory calls) She refuses to talk to certain agents due to personality conflicts. She only wants to quality control people rather than train (because she doesnt know how...then how will she know if the clerks are doing it right?) She is always calling in for one reason or another. The day after her mom had emergency surgery she went out drinking with all of us until after 9pm that night. She always thinks everyone is talking about her and gets mad about it but she will call groups of our department the "bitch pod" or make it noted that she doesnt get along with certain people and start conflict that way. And this person is called a leader. Does the supervisor have ANY idea?

In my shop, we have a person that has self control issues. He throws temper tantrums, physically throws things, comes in an hour late every day, called in sick for 10 days straight, leaves early every day - because he gets "mad" and can't handle it and all my boss does is avoid him. The only time he can be a "tough" guy is when he sends out an email to everyone instead of pulling this joker aside. My boss is such a wimp he won't even look you in the eye when he is talking to you. This "boss" ran, yes ran into the bathroom one day so that he didn't have to talk to me. I just love it when people like this are put in charge of other people.

My boss is such a jerk, he calls me into his office just to tell me that I have horrible hygiene. He says my clothes are dirty and sends me home! My hair was in a ponytail, my clothes were clean, they smelled good, and I didn't see a spot on them! Here is what I said: "Okay, well is the fact that I'm not wearing makeup the problem?" he says: "... well I need you to rethink your outfit, and when you come back to work tomorrow, I expect you to look decent." So here I am. I started crying when I got to my car, and cryed all the way home. He basically told me I look like crap, and that put my self-esteem a few notches down.

my boss is always on some sort of leave, a week cant go by without him calling in sick at least one day a week, this week so far he's been away monday & tuesday, he was away friday last week also. the man is paid almost $70,000 per annum to not be around! when he is there he doesnt greet anyone when he arrives, and never says goodbye when he leaves, he cant see the forest from the treees, some of the staff do what the hell they want cause he is never going to say anything to them cause he is scared of confrontation! an issue of harrassment came up recently, his way of dealing with it was not to speak to the staff member accused of the harrassment but to get the harassment contact officer for the department to come and speak to our whole team in a meeting - so as not to make it obvious that one of his male counterparts was harassing staff!! he is a total knob and our team is set to flounder this year as people do what they want when they want and who wouldnt i guess if you have no leadership and when the supposed leader is there he does nothing anyway - why wouldnt you do what the hell you want! i give up!!

My boss calls in sick for three days when he has a cold (sorry, when he claims he's dying!).
Then he proceeds to mumble poorly thought out instructions down a crackling mobile 'phone line that cuts off every few seconds. Desperately, you seek clarification and when you finally thing that you have understood what he wants you to do, you go off and do it.
When he returns from his near death experience and finds out that you have not done what he is convinced he has asked you to do he proceeds as follows. Firstly, he blames you for misunderstandind him/being deaf/having problems with the language. Then he asks you why you couldn't think for yourself and realise that what you did coudn't possibly be what he asked you to do!
My boss is an idiot.

I give them ideas, and they twist them into something which will never work, just so they can feel like they are "managing." None of them have any executive experience. What the sh%t am I here? Oh yeah, because they pay my tuition and are scared to fire me so I can come in whenever I want. Screw 'em, once I finish my degree I'm out of here. If they would just open their damn ears once! I actually have layers of idiot bosses - three of them. Fist, my direct manager who is stationed three states away. He 'inherited' my site after a merger and has been ineptly trying to replace me with one of his local pets. I get the whole "just come to me with questions" routine and end up with a reveiw suggestion I ask too many questions. Next, his boss is only interested in getting her promotion. Every successful solution is hers while all of the problems belong to the little people. My manager is only too happy to pass along the bad comments. Last, my top-level manager is so focused on trimming fat that he recently fired half of the staff and put the rest of us on 24/7 duty without a raise. Everyone at my level has been told that the squeaky wheel will now be replaced. All 3 started in the same plant and were promoted as the company expanded.

Isn't the phrase "idiot boss" an oxymoron? Today I called my boss from the road to tell her about an e-mail update I had on a hot issue. She wanted to wait until I got into the office. When I got in, she shared some info and made a big issue about how things were changing on the issue minute by minute. After waiting patiently for her to complete her list of "updates," I reminded her that I had called because of an e-mail I had received. As I reached for my Blackberry -- purchased because I don't manage my e-mails well (she said after I didn't open one from her immediately) -- she snapped "I didn't send you an e-mail on this." After I forged ahead to share the information, I was reminded that "we've talked before on this topic and nothing has changed." Ultimately, she said she was interested in the information in the e-mail because it hadn't been sent to her (it came from our legal staff).
I decided to let her have the last word, cross my fingers and hope that she self implodes.

Just like anonymous story above, my IDIOT boss is also a young guy who started his career as an auditor in an audit firm and later a lecturer then now "they" changed his luck to be CHIEF of Finance for a leading BANK. Not a joke - a bank. Really wonder how could a BANK allow such person to be there. He doesn't know what he is doing and what's funny everytime something goes wrong in my department he will confidently and directly told everyone including clerical that he didn't know how to handle the situation. Like Sara's case, he practised "pet and fall guy" culture because he need someone to support him. I like the idea to "resign immediately with only 1 day notice and leave him to do the rest of job before he get the new staff" but my mission there is not finished. I need to learn as much as possible first before I leave. So till then, wish me luck as I choose to STAY. waaaaaaaa.......

My boss gets angry at me when I bring things up that would benefit the company (showing them when simple things aren't functioning properly. Pointing out things that I know would greatly help) They say, no one else is having the problems I am, then they send mass complaints about what everyones doing wrong even though I do everything right and just try to help out. I've been with the company longer than the boss has and basically devised the entire work strategy that they use now. I'm treated like an idiot for trying to help and point out things that are wrong yet the boss has no comprehension of. The thing is I used to really enjoy this job until I got a new boss. Now it's just terrible. I guess rich parents and fancy colleges will benefit you more than having common sense and basic intelligence.

My boss is an idiot also. She try to take control of everything but just turn in to chaox. I sits in her office all day to do her work and can come out for break. Her Grammar is like a two year old and everything that comes out of this office either someone else writes or she copies someone documents. I have never worked for someone that can't learn and retain any information. She went to a training and then I have to teach her the program every month and would not even let me attend the training. Then she hire people based on she like, with tow times more salary and then I have to train them. She uses that I don't have a degree to give me superviosry duties and low pay. Well I am sure glad I'm not alone in the world of having a dumb ass boss. My boss is stupid with a capital S. He has been at our company for 7 months. In every single conversation he says, "well ya know...when I was at ____ or well ya know when I worked at ___" He is unreal. One day I asked him why he did this and he said "well ya know it may be my ego." I said well yah... but don't ya think your big stories are unnessesary since 1) you are male, 2) you are a VP & 3) you are over 45? Dah! He is so dense I can actually talk to him like this. I feel like a am coaching a 10 year old. He is lazy and slow. He waddles into our office every day and just lays his big dead weight in the room. He is a big waste to our agency. Blah, blah, blah. Boy he makes me mad!!! He has ZERO leadership skills and all he is good for is a good laugh. Oh he also pickes his dirty teeth during meetings with his finger and some funky pick he stores in his wallet, he breaths big and heavy and he leans back in his chair with his big wet underarm stains showing. What a pig.

I work in a Call Center ( doing tech support ) Our supervisor is such an idiot. When the customer asks for a “supervisor” we have to tell the customer “ our supervisor is not technical “. You have to ask the dumb ass for days to fix your time card. ( because there is a error in the program that ‘Still” Is not fixed ) The supervisor has to change your password because of the error in the program. He changes the password and never gives it to you. ( so , this makes you look like a dumb ass when you cant sign into your time card) Then he comes to you and asks you ‘ Why , didn’t you tell me about this or that”?!?
He has even asked me once “ You look calmer today , have you been taken your meds”?. If he is forced to do his job ( take a sup call ) He sucks the customers ass and gives them what ever they want ( going against company policy ) He then listens to the call and looks for anything to make you look bad. It’s very frustrating to follow company policy only to have the supervisor apologize for my “behavior” to the customer. ( Then puts you back on the phone with the customer ) If he is asked a question “ what do we do in this situation ? He tells you to ask someone sitting beside you what the answer is. Most times when any of us need a supervisor to take a call “ He cant be found”.
Its very frustrating to do your job by company policy when the supervisor doesn’t know his ass from his elbow. Its very difficult to follow company policy and be made to look like an incompetent fool for doing so.

I'm sorry that everyone here is suffering under these idiot bosses. I suffer everyday under one too. He has no technical, managerial or human qualities. On the last day of work, when I leave this place I'm going to email the whole company about him. I think this may open the eyes of management who are not part of his clique...

My idiot boss, doesn't know how to speak, wears the same pink suit everyweek and thinks she looks amazing and talks to her employees like they are 5. She has this constant need to remind everyone that she is the Sr. Director. Her favorite line is "okay okay I get it," she can't remember where her notes are but takes more notes then anyone i know. I wish management would open their eyes and see what a waste of space she is!

Hi All..I actually just read this book called "Total Sacs in the 21st Century". It is kind of funny..the author pokes fun at society and vents at certain things..the reason I am sharing this here is that one chapter pokes a lot of fun at corporate america and the management there in - he tells a story of how every month he had to explain to one director how to read the monthly reports - how one vp did not know how to take 2 attachments from an email and send each one to a different person. Funny stuff. Pick it up and give it read some day - you find it funny.

My boss is stupid, to add he is also an idiot of the most superior. He is un-organized, when I say Un-Organized I mean it all of his papers are thrown around in his office, when clients come he ask me the administrative assistant or the Office Manager where the papers are so he won't look stupid. He has already got on my nerves and I have taken a sexual harrassment, discrimination case out on him. He was calling me all kinds of names besides my own which should be easy for an idiot to pronounce and he was the only one in the office who could not say it right. I became very angry about that, not to mention got aggrevated with him. Now someone in the office has told him that I have took a EEO case out on him and now he is saying my name right, but he is not talking to me around the office. I believe he is putting the office manager up to fire me. That is the only way they will get me out.

My boss SAYS she wants to be your friend and then "throws you under the bus" with co-workers and upper management. For example, the other day she told me that she told upper management that my job only takes 6 hours a day. !@#$! That the ONLY one who actually has an 8+ hour job is HER! What a joke!! She's always late and always leaves early -- I can't remember if/when she EVER was there for 8-hours, much less WORKED steady for 8 hours. She constantly demeans me and my co-workers, and blames us for problems SHE causes due to her ineptness. I want to throw up when she tries the "buddy-buddy" routine. I've worked for almost 40 years and I can't say as I've ever worked for someone like this before. Retirement looks better all the time. Know I won't retire from my present job -- can't take much more.................

I have had it with my boss! She is a total idiot. Got her Managerial position by default, and by "other means." Don't think I have to elaborate. The big wigs in the Company think she's wonderful -- I wonder why. She's a cheat (in a whole lot of ways) and a liar, but goes to church, and is constantly preaching to us about what sinners we are! She's a 100% phoney who would stab her Grandmother in the back if it benefited her!

My boss states he is an elitist and proud of it. He refused me a promotion because "face it - your no adonis" (he should talk). He denied me project material for 1 year then dumped it all on me at the last minute and issued an impossible 2 month deadline. While I work furiously to meet this, he interrupts my work constantly with complex, irrational tasks to completely re-write sections of the project that in the past no client has ever complained or had issue with. When I dispute him on this his final "winning" argument is "I don't like it"! Impossible

My boss is a nice guy, he's just really stupid. It's amazing that he's been the CEO for 10 years, so I have to believe he has game or at least use to. Perhaps he's just lost his way. He does stupid things like this: bcc stands for...because Charlie cares. I was laid off on Friday, which is ok because I really don't like the direction of the company. After I was laid off he had me immediately interview two office manager candidates. These are just a few of the things he does.
Like I said, I like the guy but he is a complete idiot.

Then he comes storming in and starts telling all these cock and bull stories that are so full of lies that any inmbicile would pick up on it immediately, that is, of course, expcept a bunch of 18 and 19 year old models. I called him on his lies today and he called me a fool in front of everyone. Anytime I open my mouth he shoves it down my throat. My boss is an idiot. We are supposed to be kind of on the same level. I am the Assistant Manager and he is the Manager. He has a military background and loves to hire military people in the office. I have been on the job 3 months and know more about the job than he does and he has been doing it for 3 years. He is a complete idiot. He can barely use the computer. Before me there were 2 other people in my position that lasted less than 5 months. No one wants to work with him. He is so indecisive. Then he totally disrespects you when he talks to you. He tried to yell at me one day about not telling the staff to put some information in bold letters. Because I deviated from his exact verbiage he had a fit. I told him I have only been here 3 months and you didn't train me on what needed to be done and now you expect me to read your mind. IDIOT! He apologized because he realized he is stupid. Then he hired someone as or more stupid then he is to help him out. This employee calls me everyday to tell me that the other employees are coming in late. I told him I don't want to hear it. Stop calling me and worry about himself because he has no clue what he is doing. He tries to cover up for being an idiot as well by trying to be helpful on meaningless task. But back to the idiot boss. I really don't know what to do because I LOVE the job but not the boss.

My boss is not only a self centered witch, she's barely literate! Honestly, one day she spelled cat as cate. She asked me last year how to spell Christmas. Every time I think about taking an axe to her head, I remember that I love my kids and the bills have to get paid somehow.
This woman has lied almost on a daily basis to the owner about many things and people, icluding me. She has gone to other staff and bad-mouthed me. I finally confronted her, and she tried to turn it around and put me on the defensive. I refused to back down, so I'm pretty sure that after Christmas I'm gonna get fired for some false thing or another.
Basically she's had it in for me from day 1, as I tranferred from another location, at which I had the same position as she did at that time.
Witch face felt so threatened by me (and the fact I had 5 more years experience), that she demanded to be promoted ASAP to manager or else.
The owner is a wuss, so he caved. I was promised that position a year earlier, but oh well.....
By the way, YES I have been trying to get other work, but unless I agree to shift work and lousy pay, plus as much responsibility as I have now, I can't get offered anything.

I work in a restaurant, where staff are not allowed to 'graze' on food. My boss is constantly eating from the dressing tables, shoving food into her mouth while helping prepare food! She doesn't even bother to wash her hands afterwards! When she sees us looking, she says she's 'quality testing'. Hmmmm, she "quality tests" bacon and cheese about 10 times a day. She handles raw meat and never washes her hands after, same with garbage or smoke breaks (about 10 times a day too). She's mean and ignorant and VERY self centered. Whenever she approaches a conversation in progress, she interrupts to change the topic altogether.
To make matters worse, she has a handsome husband who makes big $$$. The funny part is that she's BUTT UGLY and her teeth are falling out!!!! She must give great you know whats ( EWWWWW, I just grossed myself out)

Take an "Owner" that only promotes family. He hires an egomaniac for a Operations manager, needless to say the manager has absolutely no clue what he is doing. Has spent a whopping six months in the field and considers himself an expert. I suppose if we were peddling toilet paper I might go along with it. But in the field of business radio communications?....Give me a break. The owner is even worse. Gets involved in every project long enough to louse it up beyond belief, piss the customer off beyond reason, then decides to take a two week tour of anywhere not close to the shop.We can't forget the ever present brother in law in this group. A no talent nobody in the radio community. Wouldn't be able to get a job as installer in any legitimate shop. Has the distinction of being an ex-diesel mechanic with absolutely NO technical training. But of course his word carries all the weight since he is after all the brother in law.
Welll...Take this job and shove it. I AM certified, I CAN and HAVE achieved other employment. You and your clueless cronies can have all the strategic meetings you want now. You never have and never will have a clue.

My boss has been with the company a little over a year and is still clueless about how things work there (culture, processes, strategies, etc). I wrote the team an email when I needed help with something. She responded by asking me my original question with no suggestions of how to solve the problem. Idiot! My peers were very helpful, in contrast.
She's the manager of 12 people. She micromanages the 5 of us in the office, which she works from. But she does nothing to manage the other 7 people that telecommute full time or work in another office and has no idea what they're working on. Since she's only managing 42% of her team, I think her salary should be reduced to 42% of what she's being paid now.
She's a flat out imbecile. And it's common knowledge in the office that she is dumb. The bright side is she's 120 years old, so she might die soon. I will tap dance on her grave! See you in hell, lame-brain!

I work in the engineering field and keep running into managers that have never worked in the field themselves, but they get put in charge of engineers. I've got a manager that gets my name confused with someone else's, sleeps in his office, has admitted to having short term memory loss, and is too incompetent to be able to evaluate anyone. He promotes people that have the easiest assignments, and then downgrades people with the hardest assignments and the most work. We've had several people go into early retirement because they couldn't stand him anymore. Others just left to go somewhere else. All this manager is concerned about is retiring. So he doesn't want responsibilty for anything so he can retire with as much money as possible. Hurts my career, and hurts the company actually. This manager needs to be thrown out.
Oh, and also...get this: The last company I worked for was an aerospace company. They put a guy in charge as head engineering manager. This guy never went to college. He was in the army, and then when he got out, he painted houses. Somehow he ends up in charge of people with MSEE's, BSEE's, and a guy with a Phd. And of course, he was a complete idiot and a shivering noodle.

My boss is also an idiot. He doesn't care about day to day operations only what his boss cares about. he expects you to stop doing everything if his higher asks for something no matter what you are doing. As long as he does not get chewed out nothing else matters. It shows because the palce is slowly falling apart. If we did not have self motivated employees we would be out of business.

I just recently separated myself from an idiot boss. He is a total control freak at best, but his idiocy comes from the fact that he is scared of confrontation. A boss should never be scared of confrontation of any type - confrontation is what makes business what it is - you see a problem or niche that needs to be corrected/filled, you confront it, and you deal with it. But not this guy. He would get scared any time a customer was unhappy or if he felt threatened by another employees knowledge (he would also deliberately withhold knowledge - a big no-no in the IT field) and run into his office and hang a 'Do Not Disturb' sign. The worst part: Once the confrontation had passed (after he got one of the employees to deal with it because he suddenly had an emergency appointment), he would hold a big meeting and threaten to fire everyone. Seriously. I guess that was his way of proving his masculinity to himself after cowering in an office with a 'Do Not Disturb' sign because some 70-something year old lady did not like his latest ad....

I am a musician, hardcore. I work to pay my rent ~ ~ I work hard and am very bright. One thing I won't tolerate is "Corporate Whores" trying to reshape or reform me - as an artist, I do my own shaping and forming and regardless of the circumstances, I won't conform to help turn big profits for a bunch of big babies that were born into money and using my body, soul and time to increase they're comfortable position in society. That being said; I'm more than happy to come in, work hard and use my creative side at work - which I do. I'm well liked and the presidents of the company really are into me. The manager however, he doesn't get it - he wants things to be more orderly and corporate when we are a high end boutique company ~ ~ he handed me a book that has to do with corporate conformity and wanted my 'thoughts' on it. Well, I took it, but only because it was obvious he wanted me to ~ but I'm not going to sit down and read it... I have no problem with growth, learning, etc., but I'm bright and I take it from people I respect, I don't want to model myself after this guy and therefore am not interested in 90% of the things he finds interesting. His interest is money, mine is music. So, i just needed a place to vent and found this forum (IT'S PERFECT!) ~ ~ I'm preparing for a show and in a perfect world I will leave this non-sense for the people that find it fulfilling, nothing wrong with that, but it's not me, baby, I've got you, to save me, oh.. yer so bad, the best thing I ever had, in a world gone mad, your so bad... :-) Cya on my world tour!

Makes me want to scream "because you told me too you FCKIN moron" the only things she cares about is tasks our boss gives her so when people call in and ask to get a meeting set up, half the tiem she forgets to do it and then they call back and i have to deal with it, which by the way is NOT my job. When people ask her to do something, shes alwats more the willing to say oh ** will do it, even though its always things that either i don't have authorization to do or is simply not my job, shes fat lazy and doesn't know what shes doing half the time. My boss is a complete and utter moron. The thing is, he thinks he's a nice guy. He and his partner are so uptight and anal it is impossible to put together a proposal. They have to cover every little thing of theirs, but I'm sure they'd NEVER sign and agreement written by them. It is completely in their favor.
My boss talks right over people. Just interrupts them mid-sentence. He makes racist remarks and tells everyone things that are completely inappropriate and private, like "I think so and so (a colleague) is on anti-depressants. You're kidding that you just said that! He's serious too!!!
Oh, he is the President of the company, so there's nowhere to go.

I work for a huge, nation-wide company and absolutely hate the politics and abusive/irritating boss I currently have. She's got her "pets" who do nothing and those of us who work our butts off...but yet we're (especially me) not good enough for anything in her mind. She's finally got a new boss, on-site, so I'm hoping this one will see through the FAKEness she portrays every minute! I took the darn job as a stepping stone to something better, but with her putting me down all the time, when my performance and my goals are set VERY high, I most likely won't get anywhere unless it's outside of the company. If/when that happens, she needs to realize that I will make sure to report the bullying, lying and discriminating acts she has pulled on me. Many know how she got where she did...now we just hope the "higher-ups" see that and keep her from getting anywhere else, b/c she gets pleasure from putting others down, making their lives miserable - at work and at home. In my opinion, she doesn't even deserve a management role - She sure hasn't proved that she's good at it! She's one that never will be - No one wants to work for her...

To Chocolate (2/23/2005), why on earth would you allow yourself to be rehired after your boss fired you? Where's the responsibility on your part? Why would you want to work again for such an inept boss? He/she doesn't deserve you! Rather I would have said, "No thanks, I will go somewhere else so I can work in a meaningful and professional organization where my talents and skills are recognized and rewardwed" in a very calm and controlled voice. Don't give them the pleasure of seeing you're upset. And don't tell me you need the job. It isn't the only job. Furthermore, if you feel you've been fired unjustifiably, get a lawyer and sue the company. Employment laws protect people against wrongful dismissals. Make life unbearably miserable for the prick so they know who they're dealing with and let them explain their actions and incompetency to their superiors. Perhaps a little, or a lot, of light shed upon their actions will bring negative repercussions to them. I wouldn't put up with that behavior from anyone. With authority comes responsibility and they, as managers, need to understand what that means and how to balance it. You need to develop a thicker skin and stop letting people mow you down.

I had a good supervisor for about two years. She did tell me things like "you are doing a terrific job," and she backed up her words with a much needed and appreciated bonus. Unfortunately, she retired, and the psychopaths took over.

I finally quit from my idiot boss. It is the biggest relief! I cannot speak for everyone else, but they really do control your life. I was unable to leave my job at the door and was constantly overthinking and trying to comprehend her reasoning. It was not easy to do, but has been well worth it. Financially it was a bad decision, but the small town I work in is more than aware of her faults. I was offered two jobs within hours, and I wasn't even asking. It's a major sign when an entire community is aware of their downfalls.

Reading all these comments makes me realise I am not the only person stuck with an unqualified, know nothing boss. But what I don't understand is how these people duped the their bosses and conviced them to hire them to do work they are unqualified.
At this very moment she is trying to get rid of me with lies and framing me for things I did not do or not capable of doing. I am not going to miss not working for this company. But with this bad economy it will be a while to find work. So God Bless Me and Help Me.

I work for a family owned company; management consists of the big boys club & all their toys including planes, BMW's, iPhones for all of them & they constantly complain about money but the company is rolling in it because of all the hard work we do for the company. They are all very young, scream @ employees; curse an employee out at the drop of a hat; NEVER will consider an idea including technology to help us do our jobs-it's all manual; every idea we have gets shot down and then at a meeting, we'll find out that one of them has taken our idea for their own. We are never told we do a good job & fear reigns. Everyone I know is looking for another job including me because the lack of professionalism, professional courtesy runs rampant in this company. It's too bad because it would be a fun company to work for long term if they would just get their acts together.

bosses who don't know anything about what you do just ask "what do you think" "lets brainstorm and come up with ideas". these are bosses who can't make a decision on their own. too wishy washy!

yeah, my boss sucks ass too. she knows absolutely nothing about computers. she's a self proclaimed work-a-holic, but she has to work three times as hard as everybody else because she has the attention span of a gnat (which is why she knows nothing about computers). she is constantly shooting me down and always takes credit for my work and my ideas. i am not allowed to communicate with any of my other co-workers and especially not either of her bosses. she tells me that my credentials and efforts mean absolutely nothing. she will stand in a room full of people and tell a boldfaced lie and apparently not realize that everybody in the room knows she is lying. it is un-frickin-believable. i don't know how she has managed to fool people into giving her power for the last fourty years (supposedly).

My overall boss is ok, but my direct day to day boss couldn't find his butt with a map.
We work together on a industry publication, which has lost 2/3 of its subscribers since he took it over about five years ago. He's just totally clueless, and tries to put other people down to cover up how much of a total muppet he is. He's also totally inflexible and thinks everyone is doing a bad job because they don't work the same way he does -which is usually for good reasons.
He got a job here after getting fired from an industry publication for 'gross incompetance', and has managed to balls up everything he touches but hey his got an MBA and went to a top university so he must be good.

In my job I do most of the work. Design, programming etc. So whenever a project comes along I say immediately if it's doable and I tell them how long it should be done. I would make documents for it but idiot boss doesn't want 'em. It's too bureaucratic he says. So there's this one time that there was some major revisions for a project, obviously I get to do it, so shelve current work, do revisions and it takes me a couple of days. My current work gets pushed back and he tells me "give more realistic schedules" "be a team player". WTF!? What team? There's only me and I do most of the work asshole. I get to do the work of a team. And even if I give "honest to goodness" (fuck his grammar)schedules they'd tell me to shorten it. I really want to bash his face in.

my boss is a real ass. he has a lot of money as his father is wealthy. he owns one little stupid pharmacy in trinidad witha staff of 60 plus people. he spends his days sleeping causing the competition "superpharm" to come in and take market share. he usually reports to work abou 1/2 hour per week. no joke! and when he is here he literally curses you for not doing things his way. but he is never here to delegate the work his way. he railroads suppliers into getting discounts as if he would prefer he got everything free from them. he is just a rich boy that started a business with his father's money. he does not have the brain to run a business as he sleeps whole day and probably high on drugs. he is dating the new purchasing manager but has she got the suprise of a lifetime when she finds out who he really is. a second branch is to be opened soon but after 2 years he cannot finish the building because he wants expensive furnishings from outside trinidad. he is really a dick wart and should be paid by his father to stay at home

We all know there are nobhead bosses out there, more often than not, but the problem is, senior management have a way of not letting the other senior management see how USELESS they are and how dam stupid their decisions are... And they have their little pets who aid in the bs, makes me want to vomit in my mouth and savour the taste rather than look at them..
So how to we get around this and EXPOSE these wankers??

The owner of our franchise is such an idiot. She blaintly ingnores you and walks away from you mid sentence. Like when shes done talking shes done talking. She also has no idea on how to run the business. When you show her something she thinks it great and then if someone has questions about it or they dont understand it she gets all mad and demands that management runs EVERYTHING by her. Problem is she doesnt know what we need because she comes in for 15 hours a week doing paperwork but ive watched her looking at our website the entire time shes here. I tried writing her a letter letting her know how i feel in a professional way and she sat me down and told me that she doesnt believe she does anything i wrote. She is so hard to work for.

I'm so glad to have found this site..I had actually just had a partial argument a few hours ago with my BEYOND idiot boss (as of right now we are NOT talking to one another even though we're in the same room).
Well, let's see..where should I start on his list of idiocy? He's always late for work (he comes in whenever he wants seeing as he does own the company but he comes in at 1pm!!), tells his customers that he's at work at 8:30am (when actually it is me that's in the office at this time..), he loves choosing which customers he should pay attention to and by this I mean..if they buy a lot the more attention they get from him. If they purchase miniscule items then he doesn't pay much attention to those orders. For example, this one guy ordered like 100 xbox 4000 point live cards (btw I work at a videogame company where it is only him and I) and they paid about $5000 for them since each card is worth like $50. This customer got the cards shipped to him RIGHT AWAY like no kidding. He paid close attention to this customer diligently and because of that they kept coming back. Now for the other customers who haven't purchased such huge amounts..if you order from our company (he takes care of most of the orders done through the website including shipping the items etc and I make the webpages, new product listings every week, phone call orders, xbox live card orders, invoices etc) you have a 50/50 chance of getting your order actually done correctly. Once in awhile the orders he does gets mixed up and he blames it on the customer immediately..or ME even if I wasn't dealing with this certain customers order.

One time I remember I asked him if the number he wrote down was a 4 or a 9 since he wrote them both A LOT alike and he went off on me for not understanding his writing and such. I was so annoyed I wanted to punch him in the face but that would just cause a huge fuss so I calmed myself down and went on with the day as usual.. He's always testing my limits everyday! Ugh..
I've gotta say though this company has HORRIBLE customer service its not even funny. I don't know HOW an idiot like him got his own company and lasted 16 years.. Well, I answer the phone a lot seeing as I'm at work earlier than him and they always ask for him and tell him to call them back and when I give him the list of people he needs to call everyday..he doesn't call them. And if he does he calls them HOURS later or whenever HE feels like it. Funny though that when he SHOULD be answering the customers calls he's having cutesy sweet talk with his girlfriend and having his friends and family call him on work hours and he talks and laughs on and on. I'm so sick of it..
To be honest I NEVER even wanted to work here. My aunt got me the job even though I was already working a night job so yess..I was working a day AND night shift job. My night job wasn't really hard as I was just a night nurse and you'd expect your day job to be much more fun.

Well, it isn't having to deal with such a moron of a boss. He's always yelling at me for no reason when I'm just trying to get my point across on what the customers want him to do and like they say..the customers first right? Well, funny thing about that was a few weeks ago he had a phone call argument with someone and he was yelling obscenities every which way and he was demanding to be treated right!! He said the customer was always right and they should listen to him! Well now..isn't that just ironic?
I've been wanting to quit since the beginning but I just couldn't seeing as I really need the money but I've decided that quiting randomly near Christmas season is what I should do (before I was hesitating since even I thought that was rather mean but after today..I just don't care anymore!) since that's when it's the busiest and since it IS just him and I then he'll be absolutely swamped with work!! Hopefully by then I've found a better job~
Oh yess..revenge is sweet.

omg! that is my BOSSES (yes i sadly have more then 1) i have 5 bosses, 3 people who collectively own the company, an office manager (who is a son of 2 of the owners) and my direct boss (who is the son of the 3rd owner). none of them can agree on anything ever! they procrastinate worse then anyone i have ever met, we need to do this um we'll get back to you. the other office woman quit in march. she still hasnt been replaced, and then my boss quit and the one son now took over for that, and i'm doing 2 1/2 jobs by myself! and my bosses like to change things just randomly halfway thru. i spent 3 1/2 hours on a report and i had to change every single number. i am the only one who deals with customers (we sell fireplaces and stuff) and if their is a problem i am 1st blamed even if it isnt my fault, and they change things and dont tell customers or whatever, i am the person the customers yell at if something goes wrong. and we are crazy busy and the customers get mad (because our schedule for service or install is like 3 weeks out!). and because i am female working in fireplaces people automatically assume i am the secretary. i'm not a secretary i'm in charge of purchasing, estimates, orders, invoicing, etc. gah stupid bosses and stupid customers!! i hate my job sooo much! i'm quitting as soon as i find a new one.

I am in the creative field, to make the job extra fun, she will take design that I did last month, change the color of something, then tell everyone that she did it! I cant wait for her to sink herself!

Couldnt read scanned PDF's because my boss didn't know you could scroll down when zoomed in. Didn't know how to drag and drop. has the secretary write down every time i leave the office, tries to not pay us sick pay and/or leave. Is NEVER in the office to run the business and that they opened a year ago, has been in here maybe 15 times in a year. makes everyone else do all of the work but takes 80 percent of the commissions.

My boss is a control freak. She has been on the job for five years. I've been here for 30. She has taken most of my job responsibilites away from me. She is jealous of my relationship with visitors and co-workers. She tries everything in her power to keep me from learning anything new, harasses me for trivial things, shows no care or concern for me in any way. She treats the professional staff better than she treats classified staff. She is oppressive, sarcastic, and even though I've written to HR nothing has been done. She thinks she can get away with mistreating me. I have excellent references and all of my evaluations have been excellent up to two years ago. I haven't received an evaluation from her in two years because I believe she is trying to find something to mark me down in. She will interact with other office personnel but hardly acknowledges my existence. She has caused me great stress and it is evident to others that she is mistreating me deliberatedly. She is no leader in my opinion. She is a one-woman show. She accepts no ideas but her own.

My boss is the most stupid human being I've ever met in my life. He's seriously stupid. He's from the Urkraine, so I'm not sure if it's just a cultural thing... I'd like to think everyone from the Ukraine isn't stupid. That being said, his boss is also his uncle. I have a lot of respect for his uncle, but he doesn't speak english, so when he's in town, my boss has to translate what I say, so I never have the opportunity to tell him what a complete moron his nephew is. I'm seriously afraid that my boss is going to be the downfall of our company. He's done things in the past that are illegal to the point we're being investigated by the state, he has no foresight into the the growth of the company... he only lives in the "now" and focuses on only money, not growth. He tells me and other employees to do things, and then later pretends that he never told us to do it and gets angry at us for it. He allows other stupid people to be employed simply because they look nice in a dress, and then they spend the entire day on facebook. I'm seriously fed up and don't know what to do! I'm the "face" of the company and when he asks me to introduce him to clients, I'm seriously embarrassed. I've had several clients comment on what a joke he is, and even had one say "Don't ever bring that son of a b**** back into my office again." He alienates almost everyone he meets because he doesn't know how to speak to people. Not to mention, he knows NOTHING about business. I had to explain to him what a Profit and Loss and Income statement are! In the meantime, he hired an operations manager that watches movies and TV shows on his computer at all hours of the day, never sleeps, and as a result wrecked a company vehicle and totaled it! He could have killed someone, but there were no repercussions! Me and one other employee try to help him make good decisions, but he won't listen to us. The part that sucks is I LOVE my job and care about the company.

[continued from above] I'm afraid that even if I was given the opportunity to speak to his uncle in private, his uncle would get angry at me for pointing out his nephew's flaws... the problem is, I honestly believe that he's going to run the company into the ground. I've worked very very hard to create good relationships with our clients and have almost single-handedly been the reason for the company's recent unprecedented growth over the past year. I'v landed several very large contracts that have made us one of the largest companies in our industry in the immediate geographic area. That being said, I'm afraid that if things continue as they are, the company will ultimately fail.
I actually asked him the other day, "Don't you want to grow?". He said "No." The problem there, is that it's my job to bring in new business... if he doesn't want to grow, why do I have a job there?
He come into the office around 10:30, checks in with everyone, then spends the majority of his day in his office watching russian soap operas! Then, when something goes wrong, he ignores it as if it will just go away by itself. And perhaps that's my fault. Because me and the other employee I mentioned earlier end up cleaning up the mess... most of which are caused by him. Maybe he really does thing problems just go away? Because he never knows we clean up the mess.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I always know what decision he going to make.... always the worst one possible. So I've gotten used to starting the "damage control" procedures before he even makes the decisions.
I talk to my husband about my day over dinner every night, and he can't believe the stuff that goes on! He's finally told me I have to find another job because he's afraid that I'm going to get into trouble with the law or lose my license to practice medicine if I continue working for this company. I really love my job and the company, and don't want to quit. Anyone have advice?

My boss sucks. He's a brown-nose hypocrit who wrote me up for working hard and caring about what I do. I have a meeting with him and his boss tomorrow. He reckons I don't communicate, plan work effectively etc but I know it's all on track. Talkin to him's like talking to a brick wall
Never gives feedback except when he's got the big stick out and it's a bit late for makin a diffeence even if it was possible. He's a threat to my livelyhood and I wish he'd drop dead.
I'm a boss myself, and my workers ain't perfect, but I know that a little friendly guidance and regular communication goes a lot further than a big stick. Idiot bosses suck!

I have a idiot boss who is a lovely guy but at the end of the day is completely incapable of his job. In my interview I was warned that my boss was an idiot and questioned what I would do to deal with him in various scenarios. I now find myself doing a lot of his job for him which includes managing my peers...lol I don't think they mind because they need it but I'm certainly not getting the $$$ or the KUDOS. I think it's evident that idiot bosses have even bigger idiot bosses keeping them employed. My suggestion to everyone is if you are warned about a boss or co-worker in an interview the real issue is probably 10x worse then they make it out to be. A warning about your prospective boss in an interview is NOT A GOOD SIGN... WALK AWAY AND DONT TAKE THE JOB!

Here's a story about an idiot boss. I work at Burger King (I'm only 17) and I've been there for 2 months. This new boss came in last week and automatically told me I need to make burgers faster. He said he could run the kitchen by himself (mind the fact he's as slow as a brain dead turtle). He doesn't have the slightest clue what's going on and he likes his lazy workers. He wants to give a raise to a guy that's been here for 3 weeks and does as much work as a slumbering sloth, what an IDIOT!

I work with some very nice people but they are not prepared to learn they are so tied to methods about 30 years old that they are untrainable.
I once jokingly said im surprised that this entire department isnt automated and was told to be quiet.
It is honestly that inefficient, i have recomended that they abandon paper storage and go digital but was told "how would we send cases to solicitors". i dont think they understood that digital doesnt mean set in stone.
they also refuse to learn anything new everything has to be written down as a step by step instruction sheet (like a childs toy) and god forbid if somthing different happens. More frequent than not the reason somthing different happens is because they key information in wrong.
I am sick and tired of having to code more and more error detection into our system because it slows down which they complain about.
THey dont realise that before i built this system they spent a whole WEEK compiling reports. i reduced this process to a button. but they still complain. i am really tempted of putting some doomsday code into the macro and just quit. BUt job security in the uk isnt what it was i have to grin and bear the fact im surounded by people with no knowledge of how a finance department should be run.
